Get involved in the work to prepare all our students to be ready for the STEM workforce of the future. Help us develop and grow the career readiness network as a member of our STEM learning community of practice.
The STEM Learning Ecosystems is a national and international Global Community of Practice (SLECoP). The Newark STEM Ecosystem (Newark STEM), serves the region surrounding Newark, New Jersey, including the counties of Essex, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren. The SLECoP focuses on STEM Educational Readiness and Success by supporting activities and programs focused on college and career preparation that will increase the likelihood of students joining the modern STEM workforce and be STEM literate citizens.
Our vision is to effectively connect the needs of educators and learners with the available resources of employers, funders and STEM education programs, while identifying those areas and materials that must be designed and developed to bridge any gaps to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed in STEM.
Our goals for 2024-25 are:
- Understand and analys the STEM learning happening in the region
- Engaging with public and private organizations that understand and have insight into future workforce needs.
- Advocate and promote existing STEM learning programs that improve student outcomes, with particular focus on the outcomes for underrepresented student populations.
- Solicit support to advance these goals from any organization or professional that wants to have an impact on STEM learning and outcomes.
- Grow our community through convenings, workshops and sharing resources and information that advance the ecosystem’s goals.
