Our Community
The STEM Learning Ecosystems is a national and international Global Community of Practice (SLECOP). The Newark STEM Ecosystem (Newark STEM), serving the region surrounding Newark, New Jersey, including the counties of Essex, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren, focuses on STEM Educational Readiness and Success through activities and support focused upon college and career preparation to increase the likelihood of students being able to join the modern workforce as STEM literate citizens.
Newark STEM’s first step is to solicit input from, and develop collaborations with, those stakeholders who work with students on a daily basis. Our goal is to co-design programs and supports that make sense and meet the needs of the community in Northern New Jersey. Concurrently, Newark STEM is engaging with public and private organizations that understand what future workforce needs will be and who can provide insight into what is needed for college and career success. Newark STEM will also solicit their support and leverage their efforts to connect students with available resources.
In the end, our goal is to effectively connect the needs of learners with the available resources of employers and funders while identifying those areas and materials that must be designed and developed to bridge any gaps to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed in STEM.
